How to migrate from YIKES Custom Product Tabs to Tabwright

YIKES Custom Product Tabs hasn’t been updated since April 2025 and isn’t tested with recent WordPress versions. Tabwright can import its tabs in one click. Here is the safe way to switch.

1. Back up first

Take a database backup, or use a staging copy of your store. The import doesn’t change YIKES data, but a backup is good practice before any plugin change.

2. Install Tabwright

In WordPress go to Plugins → Add New, search for “Tabwright” and install and activate it. Keep YIKES active for now.

3. Preview the import

Open WooCommerce → Product Tabs → Import from YIKES. The preview counts the saved tabs and products Tabwright found, and how many product tabs are linked to saved tabs.

4. Import

Click Import. Products are imported in batches of 50, so large catalogs work too. YIKES saved tabs become Tabwright saved tabs, and products that used them stay linked. Running the import again skips what’s already done. On a server you can also run wp tabwright import-yikes (add --dry-run to preview).

5. Check a few products, then deactivate YIKES

While both plugins are active, Tabwright hides the YIKES copies of imported tabs so nothing shows twice. Open a few product pages, check the tabs, then deactivate YIKES. You can delete it once you’re happy.

What isn’t imported

Conditions from YIKES Pro (like showing a saved tab for a category) come over as plain saved tabs. Tabwright Pro can recreate them as rules.
